Carbon Poker Launches Real Money Mobile App for US Players

The beta version of the app was launched in February, and in early August, a group of volunteers from TwoPlusTwo Forum agreed to give it a beta test. Since the app is web-based, it is compatible with all mobile devices although Ryan, a representative for Carbon Poker, said that the online poker room has not yet optimized it for Android devices. However, a support thread on TwoPlusTwo clearly indicates that the app will work fine on all iOS mobile devices.

Initially, the app will offer only No Limit Hold’em and Limit Hold’em games at stakes $0.05/$0.10 to $0.10/$1.00, but the company has plans to introduce more cash games and even poker tournaments as soon as possible.

In a recently released statement, Carbon Poker says: “Those playing Carbon Mobile can look forward to both No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Hold’em cash games. At the moment, tournament play isn’t available, but this is likely to change in the future. We’d also like to add other variants to the mix such as Omaha and Pot-Limit Omaha.”

Since mobile poker is getting to be more popular than ever, Merge Network, to which Carbon Poker belongs, wants to get ahead with its other US-facing rivals. Since Carbon Poker is the only provider to offer mobile poker, it is well on its way to earning and capitalizing on player loyalty. Recently, Winning Poker Network (WPN) and Bovada have pulled ahead of Merge Network as far as player traffic is concerned, mainly because it raised rake for its mid-stakes cash poker games. Other reasons for the fall in player traffic to the Merge Network could be the cancellation of player-to-player transfers and the network’s player segregation policies. Market analysts believe that Carbon Poker decided to launch a mobile poker app in order to compete more effectively against its rivals and attract more traffic to its online poker product.

Since Carbon Poker does not offer real money online poker services to the residents of US states such as New York, Kentucky, District of Columbia, Maryland, Michigan, Washington, and Louisiana, the newly launched mobile poker app is not available to poker players from these states.
