Cashless Gaming in Las Vegas
The STRAT has debuted a cashless gaming in Las Vegas via the new ACS PlayOn payments technology. The cashless system allows players to purchase casino chips with a debit card at table games and eliminates the need to stop by an ATM machine or cashier’s window. Oklahoma Tribal Gaming Compact Renew?
We recently reported on a significant disagreement over the Oklahoma Tribal Gaming Compact. A disagreement with potentially millions of dollars at stake. So the question is, did the state’s compacts with Oklahoma gaming tribes expire on Jan. 1 or did they automatically renew? It’s a simple question that should have a simple answer. Oklahoma Gambling is Illegal, Says Governor
A federal judge has been asked to enter a ruling that Oklahoma gambling is illegal… at least certain types of games located at tribal casinos. Perhaps not all gambling, but Governor Kevin Stitt wants the judge to order the tribes to stop operating Class III games at their properties. Harrah’s Reno Will Close This Year
Caesars has announced that they will sell their Harrah’s Reno Hotel and Casino to an affiliate of CAI Investments for $50 million. Caesars will continue to operate the property until the second half of 2020, a time during which it will continue to be part of the Caesars Rewards network. Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand Sold
Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand Sold: MGM Growth Properties and Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, Inc. have announced they have entered into a definitive agreement to form a new joint venture to acquire the Las Vegas real estate assets of the Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand for $4.6 billion. In addition, BREIT will purchase $150 million in MGP Class A shares. MGP will own 50.1% of the joint venture, and BREIT will own 49.9%. At closing, MGM Resorts International will enter into a long-term triple net master lease for both properties and provide a full corporate guarantee of rent payments….
Oklahoma Tribal Gaming Sues Governor
Three of the most powerful Oklahoma Tribal Gaming interests have filed a federal lawsuit against the state’s governor. The Cherokee, Chickasaw and Choctaw nations are asking that the court to help to resolve a dispute over gambling at casinos on their lands. The tribes would like a federal judge to determine whether the state compacts automatically renewed on January 1st for another 15-year term of Governor Kevin Stitt.
