Tennessee Sports Gaming Act Could Legalize Bets on Games
The Tennessee Sports Gaming Act was introduced on November 7th by State Rep. Rick Staples. The bill would authorize sports betting in the Volunteer State. This bill would allow adults 21 years or older who are physically located within a jurisdiction that has approved sports wagering by referendum to place sports bets in Tennessee. The Act would tax sports betting at a 10 percent rate. It would create a Tennessee gaming commission consisting of nine members to “supervise compliance with laws and rules relating to the regulation and control of wagering on sporting events in this state” and applicants would…

Florida Gambling Expansion Unlikely
Legal Florida gambling could be less likely after voters chose to give themselves rather than politicians the power to progress expansion in the state. Florida, Arkansas and Louisiana each held plebiscites on gambling issues on Tuesday, as the public participated in the midterm elections. In Florida, the Disney-backed Amendment 3, which states that citizens will retain exclusive rights to authorise and potentially expand casino gambling in the state, received about 70% of the vote. Voters in Charge, backed by the entertainment and theme park giant as well as the Seminole Tribe, which is the state’s leading gaming operator, spent around…
NHL Sports Betting Partnership with MGM
A multiyear NHL Sports Betting agreement with MGM Resorts International has been announced, with data for use in betting. This is the second major U.S. professional sports league to strike a deal with the casino giant since the Supreme Court opened the way to expanded gambling last spring. Las Vegas-based company is the league’s first official sports betting partner, just as the MGM-NBA sports betting agreement reached in July. As part of the NHL Sports Betting agreement, MGM gains access to proprietary data that could eventually include puck and player tracking information once that goes through a testing phase. Access to…
Illinois Sports Betting and Online Gambling
The second chapter on Illinois sports betting and possible online casino expansion is set to take place Wednesday at the state capitol. State Rep. Bob Rita, a Democrat, will bring together two House subcommittees to discuss various gaming topics such as sports betting, online gambling, daily fantasy sports (DFS) and casino expansion. It has been quite the journey for Illinois gaming, which has been kicking around since early 2017. Introduced by Rita, the legislation has morphed into a massive gambling expansion bill akin to a 2017 law passed in Pennsylvania. For more on Illinois sports betting and online gambling, visit…
Legal Sports Bets Could Net Leagues $4.2 Billion Annually
The four major U.S. professional sports leagues could reap a combined $4.2 billion annually as a result of legal sports bets, most of it indirectly from increased fan engagement, according to a casino industry survey released on Thursday. The findings could fuel a long-simmering feud between the gaming industry and American sports leagues, who want a share of the gambling revenue as U.S. states begin to legalize sports betting. The survey showed leagues stand to benefit even without taking a cut of wagers. The National Football League is likely to make the most, with a projected $2.33 billion of additional…
