Wynn Resorts has renamed the $2.5 billion casino it’s building outside of Boston to Encore Boston Harbor, as the company continues to take steps to distance itself from founder Steve Wynn after sexual misconduct allegations. New CEO Matthew Maddox confirmed the long speculated change to state gambling regulators Friday as they considered the company’s request to remove Wynn’s name from its Massachusetts casino license. Louisiana Considers ‘Serious expansion of gaming’

Betting on sports would become legal at gambling facilities throughout Louisiana – even at bars and restaurants – under legislation approved Tuesday by a Senate committee. Senate Bill 266 would authorize gambling on sports at the Harrah’s New Orleans casino, the 15 floating casinos, the four racetrack casinos, the 200 video poker truck stop casinos and the more than 1,000 bars and restaurants with video poker machines. The legislation, approved by the Judiciary B Committee, now moves to the full Senate for consideration. Richard Branson Buys Hard Rock in Las Vegas

The Hard Rock hotel and casino in Las Vegas is in for a makeover after billionaire Richard Branson announced he would purchase the spot. The site will continue to operate as part of the Hard Rock brand through 2019, the Associated Press reported, then it will become Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The hotel is also expected to undergo “hundreds of millions of dollars” worth of renovations over multiple phases, though it will remain open during that time. Scientific Games has joined forces with JSC Satty Zhuldyz to launch the Kazakhstan Lottery. JSC Satty Zhuldyz will operate the lottery, while Scientific will serve as exclusive supplier of all games, technology and services.
