Record Run for Nevada Gambling Revenue Continues
Oops! They did it again! Nevada gambling revenue broke $1 billion in the month of July, marking the 17th month in a row to break the billion dollar mark. The state collectively brought in $1.31 billion, to be precise. Like numbers? Here are some more: Part of that $1.31 billion was the second highest revenue total ever posted from Las Vegas Strip casinos, and the highest total since the pandemic began back in 2020. More numbers? You got it: The State Gaming Control Board reports that the $1.31 billion total for July was also the fourth highest monthly total for…

Hard Rock Las Vegas Sets 2025 Open Date
Those of you waiting for the Hard Rock Las Vegas to open will have to wait a little longer. Even with all the talk of shutting down The Mirage and it’s iconic volcano attraction, the new resort won’t be ready to welcome guests for at least another two and a half years. The company recently put out a press release with details about their plans. When referring to their new property on The Strip, Hard Rock stated that it would be “set to open in 2025”, but did not get more specific than that. One point of curiosity for guests…
Bally’s Las Vegas Name Change Underway
A mere eight months after announcing that Bally’s Las Vegas would be re-branded as the Horseshoe, workers began removing the Bally’s name on the outside of the building. One by one the letters came down. And while that may seem like a big deal, there is so much more involved than what we can see on the building’s exterior. As we approach the end of the year, guests can expect to see additional changes to the casino floor and other public areas, changes to food and beverage options, and new entertainment options including a classic arcade where the sportsbook used…
US Gambling Industry Sets All-Time Quarterly High
Nationwide commercial US gambling revenue totaled $14.81 billion in Q2 2022, according to the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker. The total sets a new quarterly record for the industry, beating Q4 2021 by 3.3 percent. With $29.16 billion generated through the first half of the year—a nearly 18 percent year-over-year increase—2022 is on pace to set a new annual record for commercial gaming revenue for the second consecutive year. “Q2’s results mark a 16-month period of gains for commercial gaming,” said AGA President and CEO Bill Miller. “With increasingly difficult year-over-year comparisons, our strength through the first…
$500 Million Allocated to Save Lake Mead
Lake Mead has never been this low. Not since it was filled in 1934. Now, with the American Southwest in the midst of the worst drought in 1,200 years, the lake sits only about 100 feet from becoming a “dead pool”. Soon, it may not be able to produce electricity or supply water. Las Vegas depends on the lake not so much for the electricity generated from Hoover Dam, as Nevada only gets about 20% of what’s produced. It’s the water that Sin City is counting on, getting 90% of what they use from the reservoir. The other 10% comes…
