Louisiana man sentenced for running Internet gambling site
From San Francisco Chronicle – A Bossier City man has been sentenced to three years of probation and fined $50,000 for operating an illegal internet sports gambling site. U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley said Wednesday that U.S. District Judge S. Maurice Hicks Jr. sentenced 34-year-old Terry Lee Doty Jr., who pleaded guilty in April to one count of transmission of wagering information — a federal felony offense. Greece Blacklists Over 400 Online Gambling Sites
From Poker News Daily – Greece’s Commission for the Supervision and Control of Games (CSCG), a division of the Hellenic Gaming Commission, has published a 401-member blacklist of online gambling sites that will supposedly be prohibited from operating in the Mediterranean nation. The list will be sent to Greek internet service providers, who will be instructed to deny subscribers’ access to the sites. RealNetworks tries to grow casino games as Zynga drops gambling
RealNetworks Inc., the company that makes the RealPlayer streaming software, is betting it can revive its casual games business with the help of its casino games on Facebook. The casino arm, which features games including video poker and blackjack, is part of the Seattle company’s GameHouse division. RealNetworks buys Slingo for $15.6 Million
Betting bigger on social casino games, RealNetworks has agreed to buy Slingo Inc. for $15.6 million. RealNetworks has a big GameHouse casual games division that is expanding into social casino games in a big way. By purchasing Slingo, RealNetworks can capture one of the most popular brands in the business and use it to make more social casino games. It’s not clear what this means for Zynga, which has a partnership with Slingo on a Facebook version of the popular Slingo game. Slingo also operates its own games on Slingo.com.
