Finnplay Strengths African Presence

Finnplay has moved to strengthen its presence in the African market by entering into a partnership with Ghanaian-based betting agency Simplebet. Gala Coral & Ladbrokes Merger Talks

Ladbrokes and Gala Coral confirmed in separate statements late yesterday (Monday) evening that they are in talks over a possible merger. The two parties said that the proposed deal would involve Ladbrokes and Gala Coral-operated Coral Retail, Eurobet Retail and the company’s online businesses. The Financial Times newspaper reported that the talks are not at an advanced stage and there remain issues over the price and the corporate structure of the merged operation, although Ladbrokes chief executive officer Jim Mullen would lead the combined group. Zimbabwe Sports Wagering Surges

On May 19th 2015, it was reported that Zimbabwe has stopped giving out betting licenses in the southern African nation to limit the surge of gambling on sports and lotteries. According to reports, Ziyambi Ziyambi, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs told Bloomberg that betting needs to be under control, that people are betting everywhere,  and that there are too many operators offering services. Interpol Ends Use of Fifa Funds

International criminal police organisation Interpol has opted to end the use of funds provided by Fifa due to an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption at football’s global governing body. As reported by iGaming Business, Interpol in 2011 entered into a partnership with Fifa as part of a joint effort to combat corruption in sport. Under the agreement, Fifa provided a donation of €20m ($22.4m) to enable the creation of a 10-year ‘Integrity in Sport’ programme.
