DraftKings Entain Purchase Called Off

Sports betting has been rocking and rolling across America, but any thought of a DraftKings Entain deal will have to be put on hold… at least for now. The sports betting company had shown interest in Entain, owners of Ladbrokes and the Coral brands, with a proposed buyout of over $22 billion. But that bid was withdrawn following what the company said was “further analysis and discussions”. Entain had request to extend the deadline for a bid presentation, which British regulators had agreed to, giving DraftKings until November 16th. Previously, the deadline was October 19th for a formal offer. The…

Sports Betting in Louisiana Ready for Launch

Several days ago, the head of the state Gaming Control Board announced that sports betting in Louisiana could be up and running by November 1st, as the first licenses are close to being issued. The regulator assured the public that applicants for sports betting licenses were in the final stages of approval. A representative from the Board said that they understand the public is anticipating the launch of sports betting in the state, and that they are “…working overtime” to make it happen sooner rather than later. Although this is good news, the Board could not name a specific date…

The good numbers are undoubtedly a…

Well, that’s pretty nice of…

Sports Betting in New Jersey Tops $1 Billion

For the first time ever, a state has taken in over $1 billion in sports wagers! The success of sports betting in New Jersey has translated to record breaking revenue, and over $7 billion handle so far in 2021. To be precise, it was the Atlantic City casinos and racetracks that raked in $1.01 billion together in September. And it’s a new monthly record not just for New Jersey, but for all the states in America. Casey Clark, Senior VP at the American Gaming Association, said that “New Jersey has always been a strong gaming market. Crossing the $1 billion…

New York Mobile Sports Betting Still Waiting

Ah, how fondly we remember when New York mobile sports betting was passed way back in April. And then, the delays started to mount. Now, as we near the end of the year, the application process drags on. One has to wonder if the delay could have anything to do with the monstrous 50% tax rate the state plans to implement. However, the State Gaming Commission maintains that they will narrow the list of applicants to a few finalists before mid-December… so that can’t be it. Still, the Commission did publish their “request for applications” for mobile wagering providers back…
