There are two states where betting on sports could be legalized soon. A Georgia sports betting bill, which has been approved by the state Senate, and legislation in Kansas, which was approved by the Senate there. Georgia’s bill will head to the House to be considered. Governor Rolls Out Massachusetts Sports Betting Bill
As part of his state budget proposal, the Governor Charlie Baker has introduced a Massachusetts sports betting bill that would allow online and mobile wagering to take place. Wagering would be limited to professional sporting events, and the legislation would prohibit any bets on college games and any eSports competitions. Regulation of the industry would fall to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. Taxes on wagers at land based casinos would be taxed at 10%, while online bets would receive 12.5% tax. Sports Betting in Colorado Keeps Breaking Records
Betting on sports was legalized in May of last year. And since that time, sports betting in Colorado has grown every month… for nine consecutive months. Now, they are the 6th largest market for sports wagers in the country. January was another record month for the state, bringing in nearly $327 million. That’s up from just over $284 million in December and $231 million for November.
