Ohio Sports Betting Bill Allows for 40 Licenses
A State Senator has introduced legislation for the regulation of Ohio sports betting. If approved, it would allow for up to forty (40) licenses. A previous attempt to pass legislation to bet on sports failed. Of those licenses, twenty (20) would be granted to casinos and racinos in the state. Those casinos and racinos would then be able to partner web based sports books to usher in online gambling. Caesars’ William Hill Acquisition Finally Complete
It’s been all but a done-deal for many months, but the Caesars’ William Hill buy out has finally wrapped up. The $4 billion acquisition process got started in September of last year. The purchase of Will Hill seems to have been a strategic move by Caesars to improve their position in the United States. First Washington State Sports Betting Deal Reached
Washington State sports betting is closer to reality as the Tulalip Tribe has reached an agreement with the State Gambling Commission. That agreement not only allows the Tribe to accept sports bets, but to actually host some events on their casino property. This is the first contract for betting on sports in the state, and comes after a year of negotiations. Wyoming Sports Betting Passed at Last
Well, it wasn’t easy. Finally, however, we can welcome Wyoming sports betting to the regulated majority. With Wyoming passing legislation, there are now 26 states where betting on sporting events is legal. Previous efforts to pass a sports betting bill failed. The Wyoming’s Gambling Commission will regulate the betting. The commission will now begin to work on the regulatory framework which is expected no later than September 1st. New York Mobile Sports Betting Approved
The new budget for the 2022 fiscal year includes plans for New York mobile sports betting. The announcement came as the state legislature and Governor agreed on an arrangement that could allow four online sports books to be operating in the state as soon as September. The New York Lottery would issue licenses to two mobile betting operators, and they would subcontract licenses to a total of four operators.
