While some people say there is no family friendly Las Vegas trip, and others say children don’t belong anywhere near “Sin City”, there are plenty of activities, attractions, and kid-friendly resorts that would disagree. This week, we look at several hotels that welcome families, as well as multiple attractions that the kids will love!
While Vegas has traditionally been known as an adult playground, it’s also become a mecca for entertainment and adventure. As a result, Sin City isn’t just about gambling, drinking, and debauchery anymore. There’s simply no way to cover all the family friendly Las Vegas attractions in just one video. So instead, we’re going to discuss the best hotels for families, popular kid friendly attractions, and the rules you need to remember when visiting Vegas with your children. Yes, there are rules.
We begin with the more kid friendly resorts. And of course, most of you are already thinking Circus Circus, so let’s just get them out of the way, right up front, because. They do have a lot to offer. Most everyone knows the thrill rides in the adventure dome, but there’s also mini golf, rock climbing, carnival games, indoor bungee jumping, and arcades! And that’s just the inside! They also have the Splash Pad Water playground outside one of Vegas’s newest water parks. Kids may also enjoy staying at the Excalibur with their Tournament of King’s Live Action Dinner Show, the Fun Dungeon Arcade, four heated swimming pools with slides and waterfalls, and kid friendly restaurants, a buffet and a food court.
If neither of these hotels are your first choice, Vegas offers several other resorts as options including Mandalay Bay with their Shark reef exhibit. Wave, pool and lazy river. MGM Grand also has a lazy river with a dedicated play area and a variety of restaurants. Plus they’re directly across from Excalibur and New York, New York, with their Big Apple Roller Coaster. In addition to that thrill ride, New York New York also boasts the Big Apple Arcade and Hershey’s Chocolate World. Their pool is family friendly but lacks the kids’ activities found at other resorts. The Horseshoe offers mini golf and arcade and a pool for all ages. While other popular choices for families staying in Vegas include the Golden Nugget, Suncoast, Tahiti Village, and the Cancun Resort.
Once you know where you’re staying, your attention can turn to family friendly Las Vegas activities. And there are some amazing attractions for kids of all ages, including one where Junior can drive a bulldozer. Yeah! Dig This Las Vegas is a short ride south of the strip where kids as young as eight can get behind the wheel of skid steers and excavators, and 14 year olds can work a bulldozer. Even children as young as two can participate. With the help of their parents, of course. Next, there’s Ninja Kids Indoor Action Park with trampolines, zip lines, and an obstacle course. A great place to burn off extra energy with a trapeze dodge ball, the battle beam and basketball on the world’s “bounciest” court.
Then there’s the Pinball Hall of Fame across from Mandalay Bay, which offers so much more than just pinball. Guests wander through 25,000 square feet of arcade games, claw machines, and air hockey, plus nearly 700 modern. And classic pinball machines. Also, the new F1 experience is now open, which we covered on our show back in February. This interactive exhibit offers food, merchandise, race simulators, and lets kids 12 and up drive a Formula one inspired go-kart on part of the actual F1 racetrack.
When you’re done with one of these fun activities, don’t forget to have lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe Near Planet Hollywood. Another kid favorite, or stop by the m and m factory close to the MGM Grand. And don’t forget about all the free shows like the Bellagio Fountains fireworks at the plaza or the outside of the sphere. And while the inside of the sphere is like nothing you’ve ever seen before, they do not have a corner on the immersive activities market. Take Flyover Vegas, for example. Guests strap in and are surrounded by a huge spherical screen for a realistic flight simulation without leaving the ground. Feel the wind in your hair and the mist on your face in this thrilling multi-sensory experience.
Next up, visit the birthplace of Las Vegas at Springs Preserve with 180 acres of trails, a botanical garden, live animal exhibits, and a museum focused on the history of the area. If you want your day in the sun to include some water fun, there’s the Cowabunga Bay Waterpark, formerly Wet and wild Las Vegas. Guests can enjoy the wave pool, restaurant, kids area, and multiple slides spread out across 23 acres. But if you want to take the family on a prehistoric adventure, visit the town square dinosaur post with tons of interactive, fun, erupting volcanoes, and of course dinosaurs and kids can even get up close and personal with the gentle giants.
Finally this week as we close out our family friendly Las Vegas program, I had mentioned some rules for you to remember when visiting Las Vegas with children: First, keep an eye on them at all times. I mean, above and beyond what you normally would, especially in casinos or around gaming areas. Anyone under 18 on a casino floor is going to irritate other guests and draw the attention of security pretty damn quick. Second, stay off the strip at night. Even during daylight hours, there’s a lot out there you might not want the kids to see, and at night there are even more drunks and half naked people.
Third, be aware of curfews! Minors are not allowed on the strip or Fremont Street between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am, and on the weekends the strip curfew begins at 9:00 pm while Fremont is pushed back to midnight. So thanks for watching. Hopefully this video was helpful.
