Gambling Commission and National Lottery confirm October 1st merger date

UK U.K. united kingdoniGaming Business – Mark Lepkowski, corporate affairs manager at the National Lottery Commission for the UK state lottery, has confirmed to iGamingBusiness that the organisation’s merger with the Gambling Commission regulatory body for Great Britain will take effect on October 1.

The National Lottery Commission will be dissolved under the new agreement between the two organisations, which will run as a solitary body when the merger is completed.

Lepkowski would not comment further on the merger, but confirmed more details of the deal would be released when the deal is activated next Tuesday.

The UK Commons Select Committee carried out an inquiry into the proposed merger earlier this year.

Hugh Robertson MP, Minister for Sport and Tourism, confirmed that the Select Committee agreed to the principles of the merger in a letter to Gambling Commission chair Philip Graf in July.
