Glu Mobile partners with Skillz for US real-money mobile gaming

From iGaming Business

Smartphone and tablet freemium games developer, Glu Mobile Inc, has entered into a strategic relationship with Skillz to introduce skill-based, real-money gaming in a number of its games. The Skillz tournament platform will be intergrated into select Android titles, giving gamers the chance to compete in skill-based tournaments for cash prizes.

“The Skillz tournament platform allows us to reach a significant number of U.S. gamers interested in competing for cash prizes in their favorite skill-based Glu games,” said Niccolo de Masi, Glu CEO. “We look forward to offering an entirely new multiplayer experience to our audience in the U.S.; an experience that we anticipate will improve user engagement, retention, and monetization.”

The first Glu game to go live with Skillz-powered cash competitions will be the hunting simulation, Deer Hunter® Reloaded on Android. Glu and Skillz expect that players of Deer Hunter Reloaded, which has already been downloaded by 6 million users, will be able to compete in cash tournaments in 37 U.S. states by the end of the second quarter of 2013 with more Skillz tournaments set to be made available during the second half of the year. Free tournaments will also be on offer in all 50 US states.
