Florida Sports Betting (Sort of) Launches

The long awaited launch of Florida sports betting is upon us, but there is no need for celebration. As the state is mired in lawsuits challenging its agreement with the Seminoles, claiming it violates federal law by authorizing sports wagering not on Tribal lands. Officially, the state has authorized the legal wagering on sporting events to start today, October 15th. NHL and DraftKings form Sports Betting & Fantasy Partnership

A new partnership for sports betting, fantasy sports and online gambling has been forges between the NHL and DraftKings. As part of the agreement, DraftKings will be the official sports betting, fantasy sports, and online gambling partner of the hockey league. This deal will give DraftKings the ability to use the NHL logo for promotions during hockey season, as well as the playoffs and finals. New Las Vegas Station Casino is Coming

There are confirmed plans for a new Las Vegas Station Casino. Currently, the company has six properties in and around Sin City. They recently received approval from the Clark County Commission for a new casino southwest of the Strip. Approval means construction could start early next year for the 200-room tower dubbed “Durango, a Station Casinos Resort” near the 215 Beltway, company officials said. Bob Finch, chief operating officer for Station parent company Red Rock Resorts, termed the project a next-generation attraction for local residents. He said it could open late next year. Las Vegas Casinos on a Hot Streak

It’s been a hell of a run for Las Vegas casinos lately! In fact, as we reported last week, they just took in over a billion dollars in gambling revenue for the sixth consecutive month! The longest ‘hot streak’ ever for Vegas gambling was seven months, so there is a real opportunity to not only match the current record, but extend it past seven months. The Nevada Gaming Control Board said that revenue for the state was over $1.16 billion for August, which represents more than a 22% increase from this time in 2019.
