Leaders with Oklahoma’s powerful Native American gaming are voicing frustration with the state’s Republican governor. He caught them off guard recently with plans to force a renegotiation for a bigger piece of the billions of dollars Tribal gaming revenue. A Cherokee Nation citizen himself, Gov. Kevin Stitt suggested in an editorial Monday in the Tulsa World the compacts between the state and the tribes should be reevaluated since the industry has matured. This week, New York sports bets became official as they joined an ever increasing list of states allowing allowing the activity. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission held a public hearing Thursday to discuss its proposed regulations to govern Iowa sports betting. Sources told Legal Sports Report the meeting went largely without issue, an unsurprising case given regulations that closely mirror Iowa’s recently passed sports betting law.
