Atlantic City Casinos Not Ready to Reopen

Even as rumors circulate that Las Vegas could turn the lights back on at casinos June 1st, Atlantic City casinos will remain dark for a bit longer. While some businesses in New Jersey start to reopen, Governor Phil Murphy said that he still doesn’t have a date for when casinos in the Garden State will be able to follow. Asked whether it will be weeks rather than months to see them operating again, Murphy said: “I don’t want to marry myself… I hope it’s that,” he said. Some casinos are still accepting hotel reservations, especially as beaches reopen for the…

Atlantic City casinos are just as eager as Las Vegas to get up and running again. Now, the Casino Association of New Jersey are working with AtlantiCare on a comprehensive plan to reopen Atlantic City safely when the New Jersey stay-at-home order is ended. The plan is being developed by CANJ to assist the Governor Phil Murphy Administration and state regulators to create comprehensive reopening plans that prioritize the safety and well-being of employees, guests and the community at large. Atlantic City Casinos and Online Gambling

In case you were unaware, Atlantic City casinos have been doing quite well. In fact, the New Jersey online casino industry is on the verge of celebrating its fourth birthday. After an admittedly rough start, the online gaming industry in this state has gone on to become a runaway success, and it does not seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. Four years in and the revenue from this market is still growing by between 20% and 30% on a monthly basis. Online Gambling is not Detrimentally Affecting Land-Based Play Perhaps most importantly, the online gaming industry is…

There Will Be Fewer Atlantic City Casinos

Wall Street experts have seen the future of Atlantic City casinos — and there will be fewer places to play. A panel of analysts speaking at a regional gambling conference Tuesday in Atlantic City said a market that has already lost one casino this year still has too many. Adam Rosenberg, a managing director with Goldman Sachs, said “reducing capacity” is already underway, which he considers positive. Srihari Rajagopalan, a debt analyst with UBS, agreed. “You are seeing the market right-size, which is a positive,” Rajagopalan said. “There are unprofitable casinos shutting down.” Earlier this month, the CEO of Caesars…

Five Atlantic City Casinos Receive Online Gaming Waivers

State approvals announced Friday all but guarantee that several Atlantic City casinos will be prepared to offer online gambling by the Nov. 26 launch. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement released a list of companies that have been awarded waivers, authorizing them to engage in Internet gambling activities later this month. A trial period begins Nov. 21. The waivers indicate that the companies have submitted complete applications and have passed preliminary investigations. A license will still be needed to operate in New Jersey in the long term, according to state guidelines. The casino entities offering Internet gambling also have…

Harrah CEO urges cooperation among Atlantic City casinos

Press of Atlantic city – Barely a week on the job, the new chief executive of Harrah’s Resort is sounding a new theme for the Atlantic City casinos: Let’s put aside the old rivalries and work together to boost the local economy. With competition from gambling markets in surrounding states growing even more intense, the city’s casinos simply can’t afford to act independently anymore, Rick Mazer said. “We really need to start looking at it from a citywide perspective, not just isolated to our individual boxes,” Mazer told the Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association on Tuesday. Mazer, in his…
