Nevada Regulators Seek Fines for Face Mask Issues
The Nevada Gaming Control Board recently investigated complaints against casinos over health and safety concerns, specifically in regard to face mask issues. Now, they have released the specific violations and the names and properties. The complaints in each case allege that during repeat visits held several days apart, state inspectors saw employees and patrons without face coverings or wearing them improperly. Nevada Investigates Health and Safety Issues
Amid a huge spike in COVID-19 cases, the Nevada Gaming Control Board launched investigations into more than 150 alleged health and safety issues related to Coronavirus. Afterward, three formal complaints were filed. The complaints included allegations that patrons did not wear face coverings or wore them improperly while playing slot machines. Nevada’s casinos were allowed to reopen June 4th after over two months of closure to help contain the spread of the the virus. Aria and Mandalay Bay Violations of Face Mask Order
Las Vegas Strip casinos Aria and Mandalay Bay have both been found to have violations of the state face mask order, according to Clark County officials. Only 38 businesses were found in violation of the mask order and authorities issued notices meant to educate the staff on how to properly follow the directive. The businesses that were put on notice for face-covering violations included Aria Resort and Casino, where customers were seen without masks and not social distancing, KSNV reports. Tropicana Las Vegas Sets September Reopen Date
While many casinos on The Strip are welcoming guests back, the Tropicana Las Vegas will not open it’s doors until late summer. Parent company Penn National Gaming announced that the casino is officially set to reopen September 1st at 10am. Like with other Nevada casinos, the crowd on the gaming floor will be restricted to 50 percent of the capacity, as determined by building and fire officials. Visitors will see other health and safety precautions in place, too. Among these are the required wearing of face masks, except when eating meals or consuming beverages. Players visiting Sin City certainly don’t want to hear this, but the powers that be at the Nevada Gaming Control Board now say Las Vegas face masks must be worn at certain games that do not separate players with plexiglass. Nevada Governor to Make Reopening Announcement
The long awaited reopening announcement about Las Vegas casinos could come on Tuesday, May 26th. Governor Steve Sisolak has a scheduled press conference to reveal his plans for the next phase of the state’s reopening plan from his “Roadmap to Recovery”. In has been two weeks since the start of Phase 1 in Nevada, and during that time the Governor’s Office have been monitoring data trends and evaluating potential plans for Phase 2.
