Brian Sandoval on Monday asked who would pay for the necessary upgrades to freeways and streets leading to a 65,000-seat domed football stadium proposed by Las Vegas Sands Corp., Majestic Realty and the Oakland Raiders. Mark Davis, the owner of the Oakland Raiders, says that market research studies are being conducted by the team to gather information about relocating the team from Oakland, California to Las Vegas. At the NFL owners meeting Tuesday, Davis said that the initial reports from the studies have come back “positive” regarding the feasibility of the move. Vegas Newspaper Columnist Quits Over Adelson
Review-Journal columnist John L Smith has resigned from the Las Vegas newspaper in protest at a ban on writing about its new owner, Sheldon Adelson. Until this week, Smith, who Adelson once attempted to sue for defamation, wrote a popular column in the paper on issues facing Las Vegas, from human interest stories to politics. Adelson sued Smith in 2005 over his book Sharks in the Desert.
