Las Vegas Raiders Creeps Closer to Reality

Mark Davis was beaming as he posed with fans behind a black and silver “Las Vegas Raiders” banner. He made a few jokes before delivering a $500 million commitment to a new stadium in the city for his team. Then the owner of the Raiders got serious about the prospects of getting fellow NFL owners to allow him to move from Oakland to a city the league has long shunned because it has legal sports betting. “Let’s give them an offer they can’t refuse,” Davis said. “They’re going to approve it based on that.”  Little more than an idea a…

The announcement ended a period of intense scrutiny and unease within the journalism community. Shining bright on the Las Vegas Strip, the 550-foot-tall High Roller is a true standout at The LINQ’s outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment promenade. Measuring 520 feet in diameter, the High Roller eclipses both the London Eye and Singapore Flyer. Facing north and south (parallel to Las Vegas Boulevard), the wheel takes 30 minutes to complete one full revolution and features 28 glass-enclosed cabins with broad views of the famed resort city. Each spherical cabin can hold up to 40 people. There are benches on either side of the cabin, with plenty of floor space in between. But we imagine…
