The New Jersey General Assembly has issued a resolution to urge newly sworn-in US President Donald Trump to oppose efforts to reintroduce a ban on online gambling in the country. The US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) has delayed a decision as to whether it will hear an appeal from New Jersey in its attempt to legalise sports betting in the state. According to various reports in the US media, SCOTUS has requested a brief from the Solicitor General on the ongoing case, before considering taking the case at a later date. The US has an acting Solicitor General at present, although the position will be filled permanently after President-Elect Donald Trump takes office tomorrow (Friday). Atlantic City Posts Revenue Gain Thanks to Online Gambling

Atlantic City casinos posted their first annual gaming revenue gains in a decade, and the credit is primarily due to their online gambling operations. Figures released Thursday by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement show the state’s seven surviving casinos generated brick-and-mortar gaming revenue of $189.7m in December, a 6.8% gain over December 2015. Throw in the $18.4m generated by state-licensed online gambling sites and the year-on-year gain rises to 8.6%. The gambling industry in the state of New Jersey has seen better days. Lawmakers of the state have been trying to come up with ways to give the industry a boost, especially after a referendum to allow two casinos in the northern portion of the state was shot down by voters in November. New Jersey recorded further online gambling revenue growth during November, despite greater losses in its land-based casino market. Revenue from online gambling in the US state amounted to $17.2 million (€16.5 million) in the month, 29.9% more than the $13.2 million posted in November of last year and higher than the $16.2 million generated in October this year.
