For sports betting revenue to grow, the Indian government has been urged by an industry lobby group to establish a commission that will have the power to clamp down on illegal operations in the country. FBI Busts International Sports Gambling Ring
The FBI has broken up a sports gambling ring accused of operating internationally and taking millions of dollars in illegal bets from Southern California. Authorities said 18 members of the gambling ring were charged in an indictment unsealed Wednesday. Agents arrested 14 of the defendants during raids in Los Angeles and San Diego. One of the alleged ring leaders was captured in Norway. All persons connected to the sports gambling ring were also connected to Macho Sports, an Internet and telephone gambling business. From Gambling 911 San Diego’s ABC 10 is reporting that FBI agents have arrested and served warrants on a La Jolla, California man as part of an investigation into an international gambling ring. The house swarmed by federal agents at the 5800 block of Soledad Road belongs to Amir Moykaef, who law enforcement authorities confirmed has ties to the gambling ring. 19 others were arrested throughout San Diego and Los Angeles as part of the investigation.
