In July of this year, we reported about Station Casinos decision to close and demolish three of their Las Vegas properties. Those included Fiesta Henderson, Fiesta Rancho, and Texas Station. This week’s gambling news finds three Las Vegas casinos closing forever. Having been shut down since the pandemic began, many of these were never able to re-open, and now they will be demolished. Station Casinos Closing Several Properties

The pandemic challenged the gaming industry. And while Vegas has recovered nicely, Station Casinos has had to make some difficult choices. Now, the decision has been make to demolish three of their properties. Texas Station, Fiesta Rancho and Fiesta Henderson have all been closed since the pandemic began. But as other casinos were able to reopen in the aftermath, those sites have remained shuttered. Their customers have moved on to new sites, making the ultimate decision to close them forever a simple one. Station Casinos Celebrate 45th Anniversary in Vegas

Station Casinos commemorated its 45th anniversary in Las Vegas with fireworks shows at their Palace Station casino earlier this week. They will keep the party going for the Independence Day weekend, with additional shows at both Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch casinos. Station’s properties will also be offering specials for dining, gaming, and hotels for Las Vegas locals during the month. A representative from Station Casinos said, “Guests will enjoy specialty-themed desserts offered at all Lucky Penny, Brass Fork, and steakhouse locations.” Stations, along with Affinity, Boyd Gaming and Golden Entertainment, dominate the casino market for Las Vegas locals….

Station Casinos President Killed in July 4th Accident

The Station Casinos President, Richard Haskins, was killed in a jet ski accident over the holiday weekend while on vacation in Michigan. He was 56 years old. The accident occurred around 2 p.m. in Emmet County Michigan, where the Sheriff’s Office said Mr. Haskins was riding a Sea-Doo jet ski which collided with a Magnum powerboat. Haskins was taken to a launch area and pronounced dead by emergency personnel. Authorities are investigating. A person from the Sheriff’s Office declined to confirm details. Churchill, Wynn, and Station Casinos to Join AGA

The Washington, D.C.-based American Gaming Association (AGA) announced Tuesday it would add three new members, including Wynn Resorts Ltd. and Station Casinos. Racetrack and casino operator Churchill Downs Inc. also will join the organization, which represents the commercial gaming industry on Capitol Hill. All three companies will add representatives to American Gaming Association’s board of directors. Wynn Resorts Chairman Steve Wynn is expected to join the board. The move would mark Wynn’s return to the organization that he helped found in June 1995. Wynn left the organization after the sale of Mirage Resorts to the then-MGM Grand Corp. in 1999….
