You Gotta Be Lucky To Be Good….Or Cheat

VegasPress Release – As long as people have been gambling, whether it is in a casino, at a race track or simply wagering on games with your friends, they have been trying to figure out a way to beat the odds. However, it can’t be done and the more you do it, the more likely it is that you will get caught, and one player who was on an amazing hot streak could end up in prison for his attempts to beat the system.

Archie Karas was something of a legend in the gambling world, a player that started out with $50 to his name, but ended up amassing a fortune of over $40 million all thanks to his skills as a bettor. But there seems to be more to it than that as he was arrested in Las Vegas at home and taken to San Diego, where he will face charges of burglary, fraud and cheating and could receive up to three years in jail if he is convicted of his crimes.

Karas was seen on camera using the age-old trick of marking cards, which means he would put a little bit of dye on his hands and mark high cards with the dye, so he would know what cards he would get when playing blackjack. This isn’t the first time Karas (whose real name is Anargyros Karabourniotis) has been accused of cheating, but this seems to be the first time there is concrete evidence against the 62-year-old, who has also been featured in the World Series Of Poker. He is also known to have a three-year streak between 1992 and 1995 without a loss in any sort of gambling game.

If this was the old days, Karas would have likely been taken in a back room, but now, he’ll have to face the legal system for his alleged crimes.
