A collective of US sports betting operators have announced the formation of a new national non-profit organization to help monitor integrity and fight fraud in the wake of the strike down of PASPA in June and the subsequent growth in sports wagering. Firefighters called to reports of a fire at a Houston church uncovered more than 100 slots and casino machines, leading to several gambling arrests. Firefighters arrived to find no signs of fire. However, the person who reported the incident said he was locked in by an electronic door lock. Crews made their way into the church, where they revealed a large gaming room. The Tennessee Sports Gaming Act was introduced on November 7th by State Rep. Rick Staples. The bill would authorize sports betting in the Volunteer State. This bill would allow adults 21 years or older who are physically located within a jurisdiction that has approved sports wagering by referendum to place sports bets in Tennessee. The Act would tax sports betting at a 10 percent rate. The first DraftKings betting shop will open in Mississippi this week. DraftKings at Scarlet Pearl Sportsbook will debut at the D’Iberville-located casino on Friday following the receipt of a licence from the Mississippi Gaming Commission. The 300-room Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort has 1,170 slots, including 80 video poker machines, and 37 table games. Sports betting in Mississippi launched in August but is currently only allowed at licensed venues, with mobile and online wagering not permissible off the grounds.
