SCOTUS Sports Betting Decision Delayed

The SCOTUS sports betting decision that could repeal the federal ban on the activity hasn’t been released yet. The Supreme Court heard arguments on repealing the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) four months ago. PASPA currently prohibits sports betting in all but four American states. The hearing took place on the 4th of December 2017, and the general feeling was that the justices were siding with New Jersey in repealing the act. PokerStars Parent Company Buys British Bookmaker

UK-based firm Sky Betting and Gaming (SBG) is to be sold to a Canadian company for about £2.5bn, it has been announced. The Stars Group Inc – which owns PokerStars, an online card room – said the deal will make it the largest publicly listed online gaming company in the world. SBG is currently in the middle of a multimillion-pound sponsorship deal with the English Football League. Rafi Ashkenazi, Stars Group’s chief executive, said SBG would complement the PokerStars platform and give the group potential for growth. England’s Premier League would support an expanded sports betting market in the US, according to rights partner Football DataCo.
