Online Gambling in Wyoming Possible

Don’t look now, but legislators are considering a bill that could legalize online gambling in Wyoming in the form of mobile sports betting. The bill specifically refers to online and mobile sports betting, with the goal of regulating the activity no later than January 1, 2021.  Operators seeking to secure a license would pay an initial fee of $20,000 and the permits would be valid for one year, after which license-holders would face an annual renewal fee of $10,000. Maine Sports Betting Fails as House Upholds Veto

The hope for Maine sports betting in 2020 had been renewed when the state Senate over rode the governors veto of the bill last week. However, the state House decided to vote to sustain that veto. So much for that. Tuesday’s 85-57 House tally fell 10 votes short of the two-thirds majority needed to override the veto, and came less than a week after the state Senate voted to override by a one-vote margin, 30-10. One of the most adversarial states for gambling is looking to expand the activity. A Washington state sports betting bill has been approved by a House appropriations committee which would allow tribal casinos to offer wagers on sporting events. The committee voted 25-7 on Tuesday to send the bill to the full House for a vote before the session ends on March 13. The proposal would also have to pass the Senate and be signed by Gov.
