Colorado Sports Betting Up Over 60%

The state’s Division of Gaming has released Colorado sports betting figures showing that over $200 million was wagered just in September. That’s up 61% compared to the month of August. Despite the American football season ‘kicking off’, baseball was the sport with the most money wagered. More than $47 million of bets were placed, with football second, basketball third and then followed by hockey. The activity added nearly $70,000 in taxes to state coffers, the division reported. Rocky Mountain bettors did not disappoint in their first full month, as Colorado sports betting was able to process over $25 million in bets. All bets were placed via mobile devices since all land based casinos were closed in mid-March due to Coronavirus. Four operators launched on May 1, the first day from which bets could be taken, with six licensees currently active. Colorado Sports Betting Gets DraftKings & FanDuel

FanDuel and DraftKings will both be a part of the Colorado sports betting landscape via an agreement with Twin River Worldwide Holdings, who recently acquired three casinos in Black Hawk from Affinity Gaming. Colorado could be the 5th state launch for FanDuel, which already operates in Indiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It would be the sixth for DraftKings Sportsbook, which also operates in the previously mentioned states and New Hampshire. Seven Licenses Approved for Colorado Sports Betting

Some fifty casino have applied for licenses, and now seven have been approved to conduct Colorado sports betting once the activity becomes legal on May 1st. Now it’s a question of whether those seven licensees will be ready in time. Each license permits retail sports betting and one online betting skin per licensee.
