Colorado Sports Betting Handles $25 Million First Month

Rocky Mountain bettors did not disappoint in their first full month, as Colorado sports betting was able to process over $25 million in bets. All bets were placed via mobile devices since all land based casinos were closed in mid-March due to Coronavirus.

Four operators launched on May 1, the first day from which bets could be taken, with six licensees currently active. DraftKings, FanDuel, Roar Digital’s betMGM and Rush Street’s BetRivers opened their virtual doors May 1st, followed by Monarch Casino on May 14th, and Stars Group on the 19th.

The first month handle was even more impressive when the lack of any major sporting events is considered. All major US leagues had been suspended due to the pandemic. Now it looks as if the NASCAR Cup Series racing will return soon, as well as the NBA and MLB, plus a major UFC card and Bundesliga soccer in Germany.
