The Michigan Gaming Control Board confirmed the approval of the shared network structure. Under this setup, players from all three participating jurisdictions compete at common tables and enter shared tournament fields instead of remaining confined to single-state player pools. Because online poker relies heavily on overall player volume to build larger prize pools and keep cash games running smoothly, pooling player bases across state borders provides significant operational advantages for both the operator and participants.
This cross-border framework functions through the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement, a multi-jurisdictional compact that Michigan officially joined in 2022. Other member states in the agreement include Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Pennsylvania took formal steps to join the compact for poker operations last year, expanding potential liquidity by roughly 150,000 active players across the participating regional network.
To receive clearance for multi-state operations in Michigan, the operator completed an extensive regulatory review with state gaming officials. In Michigan, the platform operates its digital poker product in partnership with the Bay Mills Indian Community. Regulatory authorities noted that the rigorous review process ensured full compliance with state rules regarding security, operational integrity, and comprehensive player protection standards.
The rollout makes the operator the second entity in Michigan to connect local poker players with out-of-state pools through the multi-state compact. Prior to these approvals, online poker players within the state could only compete against other residents, which limited total table availability and tournament prize guarantees. Regulatory clearance may eventually allow the platform to expand its shared liquidity network into additional compact member states such as Nevada and West Virginia, subject to state-level approvals.
Industry analysts expect that the continued rollout of DraftKings interstate poker will strengthen overall player engagement across all participating markets. With shared liquidity now active across three major states, online poker operators are well positioned to offer larger guaranteed prize pools, broader stakes options, and consistent player traffic around the clock.
