Nevada Gambling News: The Wynners & The Losers

There’s a lot of gambling news coming out of Las Vegas this week, as more Strip casinos have been sold. But the big news involves the Nevada Gaming Control Board and casino mogul Steve Wynn! We’re also covering stories from Google, MGM Resorts and Taco Bell!

Howdy friends, Jay Todd back from Las Vegas and my convention, ready to bring you another edition of This Week in Gambling news! And hey, a funny thing happened while I was in Sin City! Well, several funny things actually… and that… those… are this week’s big story! Stories!

First up, Wynn Resorts has just closed deals to bring land-based sports betting to the states of Indiana and Colorado… and that’s pretty amazing considering what their former CEO is going through right now back in the state of Nevada! I’m sure that most of you are aware of the accusations leveled against Mr. Wynn recently… accusations that had him step down as CEO of Wynn Resorts. And now Nevada regulators have him in their cross hairs.

The state’s Gaming Control Board is asking the Nevada Gambling Commission to fine Mr. Wynn for each and every allegation against, him but that’s not even the worst part. They would also like to see him banned from ever holding a Nevada gaming license again. Now, the state commission has “full and absolute power” when it comes to these sorts of things… so this is a very serious situation. And while Wynn Resorts continues to expand and prosper, things are looking much bleaker for Mr. Wynn himself.

Also from this week’s gambling news, the rumors were true! Less than a month after Caesars sold their Rio casino in Las Vegas, MGM Resorts has unloaded two of their properties: Circus Circus and Bellagio! Circus Circus sold for over 800 million dollars while Bellagio commanded a price of 4.25 billion… billion with a “B”… which means MGM just pocketed about 5 billion dollars! And they thought I’d never use my math skills after high school!

In other gambling news, Google has done an about-face on their advertising policy for gambling. They’ve decided that they’re going to allow ads for sports betting right now, right here in… but only in certain states, of course. Rhode Island, Montana, Indiana, Iowa and Pennsylvania… all states where sports betting ads will be allowed… as well as Nevada, New Jersey and West Virginia. And in a totally unrelated story, this show is now sponsored by our good friends at bet365 sports book!

We also have a new game review to tell you about this one is for the Gold Stacks 88 slot machine from Aristocrat Gaming! It’s a linked progressive game featuring 4 different titles: Lunar Festival, Dancing Foo, Tiger Rain and Prosperity Pig! It’s one of Aristocrats Xtra Real Power games, and you can watch the full review when you visit our YouTube channel. Finally this week, MGM Resorts has entered into a brand new partnership with Taco Bell. And while I am certain there is a joke in here somewhere, I’ll be damned if I can find it! Go ‘Stros! Take it back!
