New York Casinos Reopen Plans

The reopening of New York casinos will be considered on an ‘individual basis’ according to Governor Andrew Cuomo. The state will take a regional approach, Cuomo said, with least affected regions opening earlier than their downstate counterparts.

The specifics surrounding the opening of casinos in New York may fall under the “attractive nuisances” reference he made, where they pose a potentially dangerous situation by attracting people to them from outside the New York region, and then overwhelm the people in that region.

“When the state and health organizations feel that the plan meets the necessary standards and protocols, we look forward to being able to reopen our doors,” said Amy Brannigan, a spokesperson fro the Saratoga Casino Hotel. “Until then, we understand the measures being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all.”
