NFL Player Policy on Super Bowl Betting

We’re rapidly approaching one of the biggest sporting events on the planet, and Super Bowl betting is already taking place. It’s not just happening in Las Vegas, either. All across America there are people in nearly 40 states placing wagers. However, if you’re playing in the big game, you best not be one of them.

The National Football League is implementing stricter gambling policies dealing with Super Bowl betting. And in fairness, the new rules will only apply to players and coaches on the two teams playing in the game.

Those new rules state that all players on one of the teams playing in the Super Bowl are not allowed to gamble in Vegas. This is interesting, because it goes beyond sports betting to including any form of betting, including casino games. This is a switch from the normal NFL gambling policy.

While in Las Vegas, players participating in the Super Bowl are prohibited from engaging in any form of gambling, including casino games and betting on any sport,” NFL chief spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed. Traditionally, players are allowed to p;ace bets on sporting events outside of the NFL, and when they are not in a team or league facilities or traveling with their respective team.

This new policy only applies to the two teams still standing, and is an effort to preserve the integrity of Super Bowl betting. And if a player is found to be betting on the big game in any form, he will face a minimum one-year suspension. Betting on his own team will draw a two-year suspension.
